Research Experience

1.Final year project mentored by Professor Swarnendu Sen and Professor Achintya Mukhopadhyay – experimental characterization of premixed flame in Gas Turbine Combustor with flame color determination by spectroscopy. Premix tube length, air flow, fuel flow and fuels were varied to find optimum. Blow off during transition from rich to lean mixture are being investigated. First Fourier Transform analysis, flame contour plots and time series analysis is being conducted to find the nature of flame with varying other parametes like premix length, air flow rate, fuel flow rate. The project aims at Flame monitoring.

Was involved in design and fabrication of an fuel atomiser under the guidance of Prof. Achintya Mukhopadhyay and Prof. Swarnendu Sen as final year project at Jadavpur Univeristy. It involves development of a laboratory-scale setup for fuel injection and will involve optical diagnostics for determining spray characterization. Also involved in a project on Gas turbine analysis of aircraft engine under a UGC project in Jadavpur University under the mentorship of Professor Swarnendu Sen. The project deals with studying of axial compressor stall and surge avoidance. The studies are being conducted based on prior work done. The studies aim to find out the proprietary design process considering different operation conditions like start-up, emergency shutdown, and operating point variation.

2.Completed project as part of Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) in controlled generation of crystalline nanotubes investigating nucleation point- depending on thermodynamic conditions (temperature, pressure, solvent). The project involved experimental analysis alongwith modelling of rapid crystallisation without inherent supersaturation at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Halle, Germany under the mentorship of Prof. Joachim Ulrich through DAAD WISE 2011 programme.
Completed a project under the guidance of Prof. G. Majumdar in Jadavpur University on Review of Electroless coatings and its use in recent times- with focus on the oil and gas sector .

3.Completed the Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP)-2010 conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore under the guidance of Prof. Prabhu R. Nott, Department of Chemical Engineering, IISc.The project was done through experiments quantitatively to determine the surface profile of dense granular media subjected to cylindrical Couette flow. This work gave a brief insight into interdisciplinary work being done among different branches of engineering. It also taught perseverance and skills required for experimental studies.
